Ian Hazel Funerals - On The Busses!

Family and friends boarded a bus to accompany a Sutton woman on her final journey.

Julie Walters, a director for the charity Sense had lost her battle with cancer two weeks ago, aged 45.

Her partner of 17 years, Julie Pratt said "Julie never liked the idea of black Limousines or travelling alone for her funeral and had wished for her close family and friends to travel to the church together:
"A friend did some research and came up with the idea of a double-decker bus, which was perfect because Julie could travel with us.
"The bus was also something different and stood out, just like she did.
"With the tremendous support from Ian Hazel funeral directors we were able to pull it off and Julie travelled with us."

Ian Hazel Funerals - On The Busses!Julie also leaves behind two daughters, Megan, aged 14 and Frankie, aged 13.

Her family had a bus stop constructed outside her house in West View Road and made tickets for those attending the funeral at St Chad's Church.

Her partner paid tribute to a "Brave, thoughtful and inspirational" woman.
"Everyone must feel that the person that have lost is so special, but unless you had met Julie you would not realise what an absolutely amazing person she was." she said.
"Julie had an enormous personality, happy and fun, throughout her illness never outwardly showing self pity or sadness.
"She cared deeply for so many people, was brave, loving, thoughtful and an inspiration to many. Any problems shared with Julie were fizzled into solutions. Her motto was 'Turn a negative into a positive.'
"She will never be forgotten and touched the hearts of so many people."

Julie had been keen to raise awareness of local charities, particularly Sutton Cancer Support Centre which helped her during her illness.

During the past five years she had organised several fund raining events and requested that funeral donations be given to charity.

Julie added "We hope this article will make more people aware of Sutton Cancer Support Centre."
